South Korean Scientist: A Pioneer in Cloning
Prof. Hwang Woo-Suk of the Seoul National University Veterinary Medicine successfully cloned a dog earlier this year. The dog, named 'Snuppy"(which means Seoul National University puppy) is the world's first cloned canine. Prof. Hwang is the first in the world to have achieved a breakthrough in cloning.
However, Prof Hwang is in the midst of a controversy over the results of the stem-cell cloning research. On a personal note, if Prof. Hwang has truly developed the technology for cloning human stem-cells, then it is another big leap for mankind.
