South Korean Scientist: A Pioneer in Cloning

Prof_hwang_woosuk Prof. Hwang Woo-Suk of the Seoul National University Veterinary Medicine successfully cloned a dog earlier this year. The dog, named 'Snuppy"(which means Seoul National University puppy) is the world's first cloned canine. Prof. Hwang is the first in the world to have achieved a breakthrough in cloning.

However, Prof Hwang is in the midst of a controversy over the results of the stem-cell cloning research. On a personal note, if Prof. Hwang has truly developed the technology for cloning human stem-cells, then it is another big leap for mankind.

Scuba Diving

Scubadiving_with_hubbyIt's been two years since we moved back to Korea. My family had lived in Cebu primarily because of the business establishment there which we ran for 2 years. We led an exciting life in Cebu. We tried our hands at golf. Like most Koreans, my hubby likes golf but he is short of a pro. I didn't share my husband's enthusiasm about golf but I took lessons with him. I didn't find it the least bit fun but it did give me a pretty hard work out. I was happy about that.

My husband talked me into taking scuba diving lessons. As always I was reluctant. (I am not an outdoor type of person.) But again my husband managed to persuade me. This time, however, I enjoyed every bit of the experience. We got our Open-Water Diver License and went on 25 dives around Mactan and Bohol.

As an amateur diver, my maximum depth was only 25 meters. But even that depth holds a beauty that is beyond description. There is nothing on land that can match the magnificence of the underwater world. When I held out a small piece of bread under water, a large school of colorful fish swarmed me and in an instant I was surrounded by these beautiful marine creatures. Looking up around me, I felt like I was inside a gigantic kaleidoscope. Of course when the bread was gone, the fish abandoned me, instantly as they came.

During these dives, God granted me the priviledge to see several of His amazing creations up close. This includes a sea tortoise, a pipe fish, a clown fish, different species of angel fish, a sea snake, and a reef shark. Normally, sharks stay at a depth of 30 meters or more but our shark swam up stream to hunt for food. Good thing it didn't find us appetizing. It simply swam passed us. This was our last dive in Cebu. The most memorable of all.

Mi-Kha at Shinchon Office

Mikha_at_the_office Every Saturday, Mi-Kha tags along with me and hubby to our office in Shinchon. With the hectic lifestyle in Seoul, keeping a family time is not easy. So we have decided to bring Mi-kha to the office. In that way we can have family time while we're at work.

I believe that it is healthy to expose a child to good habits of work and business early on. He'd be able to learn through discovery and observation. Mi-Kha pretty much likes our staff. We even introduce Mi-Kha to our clients and in my case, my adult-students who come to the office for a lesson.

Mi-Kha behaves well especially when there is a client. He just retreats to his Daddy's private office and keeps himself busy.

The Shinchon office is like an extended playground exclusive for Mi-kha. It's possible cause Daddy's the boss.

Acupuncture

I was in a car accident last week. It wasn't a catastrophic accident but the collision did give my back a bad jolt. My backpains recur. This was an injury I suffered from the first car accident months ago. My mother-in-law took me to an Oriental Hospital for acupuncture treatment.

I was terrified of needles but after several days of treatment I have come to like it. It does great wonders of relieving my pain.
