It's been two years since we moved back to Korea. My family had lived in Cebu primarily because of the business establishment there which we ran for 2 years. We led an exciting life in Cebu. We tried our hands at golf. Like most Koreans, my hubby likes golf but he is short of a pro. I didn't share my husband's enthusiasm about golf but I took lessons with him. I didn't find it the least bit fun but it did give me a pretty hard work out. I was happy about that.
My husband talked me into taking scuba diving lessons. As always I was reluctant. (I am not an outdoor type of person.) But again my husband managed to persuade me. This time, however, I enjoyed every bit of the experience. We got our Open-Water Diver License and went on 25 dives around Mactan and Bohol.
As an amateur diver, my maximum depth was only 25 meters. But even that depth holds a beauty that is beyond description. There is nothing on land that can match the magnificence of the underwater world. When I held out a small piece of bread under water, a large school of colorful fish swarmed me and in an instant I was surrounded by these beautiful marine creatures. Looking up around me, I felt like I was inside a gigantic kaleidoscope. Of course when the bread was gone, the fish abandoned me, instantly as they came.
During these dives, God granted me the priviledge to see several of His amazing creations up close. This includes a sea tortoise, a pipe fish, a clown fish, different species of angel fish, a sea snake, and a reef shark. Normally, sharks stay at a depth of 30 meters or more but our shark swam up stream to hunt for food. Good thing it didn't find us appetizing. It simply swam passed us. This was our last dive in Cebu. The most memorable of all.
